Nothing against them personally. I just hate having to explain what I want because I have no idea what I want :billionaire-tears: that or I have to show them a picture of who I want to look like and it’s embarrassing because there’s a 98% chance the style won’t work with my head shape and face and I’m just sitting there showing him a picture of some model while I look like :walking-dead: then it becomes even more awkward when trying to request a correction because it looks bad

I haven’t even gotten a haircut yet. I’m just looking at my local barbers and they have decent reviews but the pictures people post and rave about have styles that don’t interest me at all.

I feel like this is partially a confidence & socialization thing.

I used to dread it so much and feel so terrible for being annoying, I also hate getting my haircut and am always disappointed. But last time I went I was in a good mood, so I was just overly honest about what I wanted and my insecurities about it. I feel like we communicated much better that way. I just had a better time too.

Haircut was still kinda trash, but better than most?? I think the trash part is me :)

What do those numbers mean

Clipper guards, the numbers are 1/8th of an inch. “X length on top, Y length on side, blend it together” is a pretty safe ask for a shorter haircut. If you get a 5-6 or more on the side you can have them use scissors on the top instead of a clipper to keep it longer.

What the other person said. It’s clipper guard length. Once you know what you like it’s pretty easy to ask for the same thing anywhere you go. If your barber uses electric trimmers don’t be afraid to ask what length they’re using. Scissors are a bit more difficult and are usually measured in inches of length taken off rather than what’s left

“How many inches do you want it at”
