I swear it’s like people looked at the inane idea from SAO where you get one character that’s shared between every game (albeit imperfectly because even the hack that came up with that realized different games wouldn’t be able to use items or mechanics they don’t themselves have) and thought “I like how terrible everything about this is, but how can I possibly make it worse?”
