:reddit-logo: /r/theboys is melting down as the show continues to satirize their politics.
Weird how its always right wingers saying not to make things political :bean-think:
Almost like they know theyre wrong and would rather tell people they aren’t allowed to talk about it than change their shitty beliefs
Honestly, I really like the politics of this season, and I’m surprised that it’s just chuds and not libs freaking out as well. The theme of the whole season so far has been that reformism is a joke when the system itself is corrupt and stacked against anyone’s best intentions. This season so far has been kind of the antithesis of West Wing, and I’m all for it. It’s capeshit, yes, but holy shit is it entertaining.
Thank God they’re moving away from the “CIA and FBI are the good guys” garbage from the comics. The writer of The Boys comic, Garth Ennis, always throws in a big circlejerk about “the troops” in his work (most of which is dogshit anyway) to the point of the CIA being the honest, hardworking heroes.
you’d have to be a complete psycho to go through the first 2 seasons and still think Homelander was cool
you’d have to be a complete psycho an average amerikkkan to go through the first 2 seasons and still think Homelander was cool
Hasn’t Matt said something slightly similar in that these oligarch rulers are at this point pushing the war and state violence button because that’s the only power still left on their hands?
Well there goes my hope that Soldier Boy is going to be used as a critique of Biden the same way :homelander: is clearly :trump-kaneki:
my personal theory is that they’re
spoiler
building Homelander up like Geoffrey Lannister or Ramsay Bolton in GoT - make him as despicable as possible to kill him off in a graphic, humiliating and highly rewarding way later in the season, then use Soldier Boy as the new Homelander to a) retain a supe antagonist at the top of Vought and b) make a point that change within the system is pointless and will always only lead to more of the same.
what i’m not expecting is full Russiagate brainworms. the show’s depiction of Russia and Russians in this season is problematic, but it’s mostly the usual “eastern europe = super dangerous mafia thugs” cliché, which is still a chauvinist and prejudiced take, but probably as “harmless” as a portrayal of Russia can be in a show on Amazon Prime made in 2022.
Trump’s supporters, which was 49% of the voting electorate, all think he’s devious, competent, loved by all, attractive, and a good speaker.
See the world the way the enemy sees the world.
Homelander never once did a nice or selfless thing in the entire show so far. Of course he’d be a chud darling
Not only that, but he’s one of the most diabolical, hateful and purely evil villain I’ve seen in fiction lol. Kissinger still has him beat tho
What is the blue curtains thing? I’ve seen it in this thread a couple times but it’s not ringing a bell
