The first two seasons of The Boys weren’t even good. They felt like they lifted their social critique out of the 2000s. It was really ham fisted.

“Corporatism bad” “Religion bad” “Terrorism bad” “CIA good”

Also the representation was genuinely bad. We had:

• a black dude whose character traits were running fast and doing heroin
• a black dude (?) who was literally mute
• a feral, mute Asian chick of unidentified revolutionary origin, whose only character trait is being romanced into civility by a protagonist
• the only explicit supervillain is an Arab with no lines, whose superpower is blowing himself up

Oh, and also, having every conflict get resolved by threatening blackmail by leaking to the press got old real fast. Putting aside the insane degree of trust that puts in the media, it’s just repetitive.

Also the fight scenes sucked.
