yeah that’s what i was thinking

only under late stage capitalism would investing in real estate be seen as self care

becoming a landlord is self-care. if by self-care, we mean making other people take care of you or dying miserably.

Taking on enormous debts to obtain a license to property so that you can police it on the investment bank’s behalf.

After George Washington died, he asked his wife Martha to free all of his slaves. She refused to free them, but you can’t really blame her, can you? She was suffering from trauma, so she treated herself! Owning slaves is self-care! Abolitionists need to stay in their fucking lane.

you probably hate journalists about the right amount, but maybe you don’t hate cops enough. what can we do to help you with that? there’s only three of us, but the behavior can absolutely be extrapolated.

I could swear that I remember seeing about 7 or so years ago that they had some sort of weekly“Luxury Lifestyles” section.

Trying to convince people that the Paper of Record is not on our side is a haul often times.

the wsj has a whole dedicated wealth section with lifestyle advice on what to do with your money. trends in mansions, ultra-luxury travel, yachts, clothes, etc. I used to subscribe many years ago when I worked in finance and even as a lib that section turned my stomach

“Real estate investment” should be an oxymoron. Who benefits from a house being “invested” in?

If they mean putting money in fixing up a house, that’s one thing I guess…but I don’t think I will ever understand rich people.

it’s a way to convince people that they actually own private property and confuse class loyalties.

A man enters a house, kills everyone inside it, and plants a For Sale sign on the front porch.

Another man approaches and asks about the property. He is told that home ownership is the only way to defend yourself from the guy going around town brutalizing people.
