Okay so hear me out; Maybe the country that has been actively provoking a military conflict with China has an ulterior motive in “proving” that the virus “leaked” from a lab in China, the country they are actively provoking a military conflict with.
Blaming Covid on China would also deflect from their horrific refusal to enact any meaningful public health measures if anyone who mattered was actually trying to hold them accountable.
