Episode 10 is so fucking based.
Rogue one and andor have had the best politics in the SW movies and shows as far as Iβve seen. The empire is actually shown doing and saying more of the bad shit whereas other stuff merely alluded to how fascistic it was.
Not only that: it actually shows the real local corruption and bureaucratic rot that actually led to its collapse.
Iβm profoundly sad that andor has apparently struggled to gain an audience because itβs not only the best entry in star wars since the mandalorianβ¦itβs infinitely better than that!
IIRC a lot of the early talk that people werenβt watching it came from someone misreading the data. I think itβs doing fine now?

I mean they definitely did burn a peasant farmstead to ashes and leave the charred corpses outside. Then destroy an entire planet and kill every single person living there. Then seize control of a neutral city and impose military rule on it. And colonize an entire planet and torture and murder the indigenous inhabitantsβ¦
Maybe I need to rewatch the films but it seemed more like the Empire was just evil for the sake of being evil without showing why it was actually doing anything other than quashing a rebellion. Itβs probably because there was greater emphasis on the POV of the Rebellion itself whose goals seemed to be vague (freedom, justice, etc) and Lukeβs perspective which was initially untainted by the politics (:grillman: ) and perhaps the Jedi parts muddied what wouldβve been clearer political-economic dynamics, at least for me.
idk just my thoughts
I binged the show (slightly prematurely) this week and after a slow start it got pretty awesome with the heist episode. This last episode hit it out of the park, especially the soundtrack and Andy Serkis
Only good Star Wars content post-KOTOR remains lower decks type content.
I really do like this general thing about Star Wars
Itβs almost believable that the world came before the characters, and isnβt just a backdrop for stories about specific characters. I guess the more they crank out, the more that becomes literally true as well.
So, maybe instead I should say that it feels like the work theyβre doing now builds out the universe in a pretty natural way, even if, in isolation, the shows are driven by individual characters in a lot of ways
Or maybe I just like the general setting, I dunno
finale out? :stalin-approval: ohohohho imma hit that slop so hard
