Agreed! While it is important to critique the school system as it exists, as leftists the take should never be that education itself is undesirable. College is too expensive in :amerikkka:, but the take should be “higher education must be accessible and nationalized/publicly funded” not “higher education is bad”

One of the first things communists do when they take power is to make schools and education available to everyone. They did so in Russia, in China, in Cuba etc. and they did so because they knew how liberating education is, to the individual as well as to society as a whole.

Schools today have lots of issues but most of them stem from austerity or the application of reactionary ideology and none of these issues measure up to the evil that not educating children is. The answer to bad schools is good schools, not abolishing schools.

Not against public schools at all. Fully in favor of them actually so long as they’re safe and democratic. That’s how we do things at homeschool. My kids are free to go back to public school whenever they want.
