Why is there so much communist propaganda on lemmy?
The concept of federated social media is a much more left-leaning approach compared to the mainstream likes of Twitter, Reddit, etc. The people that chose to use Lemmy are much more likely to have left leaning views on other topics as well, skewing the whole platform left.
The left certainly isn’t a monolith. Just as some of these views may be standard socialist / communist viewpoints, a left-leaning platform is also more likely to have a disproportionate number of Russian and Chinese apologists.

If anything, we the collective west owe them too many apologies to ever count. But instead, we’re watching a genocide unfold from the brink of WW3 for reasons that are entirely our governments fault, and every channel is absolutely swamped with American and “Isreali” apologia.
I used to be more neutral towards China but the more I read the more I envy how their government is doing. Besides saving possibly millions of lives through their COVID policy, they’ve been kicking ass recently:

I’d definitely describe myself as a communist, but I do realize we never had a proper communist state on this planet, just authoritarian states that acted like communists to win over the workers. Capitalism needs to be regulated as fuck to create a fair society, so for now, I strive for socialism, because I understand going straight to communism probably won’t work.
Sorry if this was uncalled for, I just wanted to show there are sensible communists who don’t excuse Russia and China for the shit they’re pulling. But neither do I excuse the west for a lot of shit we are pulling.
Chauvanists like this will spell out China’s economic system and reasoning for taking the path they took, and then immediately denounce them for doing exactly what they claim to want. And while they might claim to criticize their own government, they will then turn around and feed you lines that come straight from the state department
First paragraph, what they’re talking about is that they want a society where they get healthcare and education, but they don’t mind too much if cops are still murdering Black people, there are some homeless people, and queer people are forced to fight for their rights regularly. Sorry, what can you do? The world isn’t perfect!
The second paragraph is them seething about the world not being perfect in the way they specifically wish.
