what are your thoughts on lemmy.ml and lemmy.world?

are a few that I would put back on the whitelist at first, can you think of others

I would argue against lemmy.world as there are too many people from there who are too closed-minded.

Iā€™m not so sure about lemmy.world. Itā€™s not all bad but thereā€™s also a fuck ton of liberal shit on there. A lot of the posts I see are people bitching about communism.

I have no issues with .ml personally, itā€™s the instance I created my main Lemmy account on and I find the people there to be more tolerable than .world.

Thanks for participating here and adding your thoughts here. This is what I am leaning towards. I know a lot of the users are essentially neutral but as the largest instance I believe they are being intentionally astroturfed.

There is a LOT of fuckery that comes from world at all levels from admin to randos.

Yeah .world seems like itā€™s trying to help the likes of meta and other corporate social media get a shoe in the door of the fediverse with shit like threads.

Can you add aussie.zone

I donā€™t think theyā€™re particularly objectionable.

World is horrible. Usaians complaining that everyone who doesnā€™t think bombing people is a good thing are kgb sleeper agents or teenagers rebelling from their parents.

Yes, thanks.

It is really shocking the vicious demand for consensus on all things but especially in war that seems to only come from USian accounts. I honestly believe it to be a totalitarian society.

Yeah, I donā€™t mind disagreeing with people but the sheer reality tunnel theyā€™re in is horrible.

Every ideology has its edgelords but the average user seems completely in denial that reasonable, thoughtful, and compassionate people might disagree on whether the USA behaves as it presents itself. Itā€™s not fucking normal or good to have highly militarised cops, people carrying war machines in the street, army bases in every second country, be constantly at war, make kids swear allegance to the flag etc. The only way they know how to engage with the flaws of their country is to say ā€˜X is something Iā€™d expect in $currentenemynationā€™.

I think this list is a good start. As long as there is a simple enough process to decide on what to add (or remove) it wonā€™t matter too much if a few instances are missing for a bit. Better to gradually build up the list of federated instances than to have what happened before.

Hard pass on lemmy.world, I think it should not be considered unless a lot changes with their moderation and userbase. Currently it feels like the worst of Reddit decided to land there and I donā€™t see that changing any time soon. This instance will feel a lot safer to us vegans and we can discuss veganism without them manipulating the discussion with their votes. Also, those libs canā€™t downvote what they canā€™t see :)

Before this instance (and still, I guess?) I had a few different accounts with the same user name on different instances, specifically because there was a lot of defederation going on.

It is a very mild inconvenience to switch accounts. I understand it also limits who can see whatā€™s here, but like others have said, it also keeps this instance peaceful and friendly. People can make accounts if they would like.

I think itā€™s the right move, especially with people obsessed with how others run their own instances. I for one am shocked that carnists feel entitled to determine how other beings should live šŸ™„
