Adults having consensual sex is noncey now? 🤔
Also no, Jeff and Annie never hooked up.
No, a character who’s like 30 something hooks up repeatedly with a character who’s like maybe 25-28. He makes out with a girl who’s probably 19-20 but I don’t think they ever have sex.
For what’s it worth they have it set up as Jeff battling internally against his attraction to Annie and outwardly frustrating her advances on him.
I think it was a kind of a tongue in cheek gimmick making fun of the obligatory relationship drama between main characters in sitcoms.
Yer wan
Do you speak ole English or something?
I think she was 18 or 19. Idk Jeff looked like maybe 33ish to me, I don’t know how old Joel McHale actually was when they shot the show. It was creepy but Jeff is also presented as a pretty awful person and Annie rebukes him pretty quickly after their brief make out session. So whatever, I don’t think it really matters, I don’t think the show got really good till they went full absurdist and ditched trying to have “serious character drama”.
nonce zone
Wha… am I just old I have no idea the fuck this mean?
it wasn’t a good show
I really didn’t like Community, it seemed… over directed. Like the interactions between the cast didn’t seem natural.
The security guard guy was the only genuinely funny character.
In terms of shows that debuted after Community?
-Portlandia
-Schitt’s Creek
-What We Do in the Shadows
-Corporate
-Detroiters
-I Think You Should Leave
-Silicon Valley
-Vice Principals
-Righteous Gemstones
-Documentary Now!
-Nathan for You
-Review
-Baskets
-The Eric Andre Show
I’d say all of those shows are funnier than Community.
I’ve watched only two of those - “What We Do In The Shadows” & “Vice Principals” and both of them feel downright amateurish compared to Community, as well as one-note. Community is not about quick’n’dirty gags, the jokes build up like a snowball rolling down a mountain and a lot of the elements are intricately linked to many other elements. I’d also challenge you to find a better example of truly meta humour, subversively breaking the fourth wall without coming off as obnoxious or try hard. It also often delves into the completely absurd, almost on the same high level as the old Monty Python stuff. Besides (and yeah this one is very subjective) it’s immensely re-watchable and has some of the best cast chemistry out there. Which is why it started to fall apart so quickly when it inevitably went down the flanderisation route, as well as began side-lining and shedding characters. The people who adore Community, love it precisely because it is one of a handful of shows in an ocean of mindless cheap thrills (comedy or otherwise) that was unapologetically high concept. As the saying goes: “Big Bang Theory is about nerds, Community is for nerds”.
Silicon Valley and Veep are both far better than Community and debuted after it.
Silicon Valley gets so repetitive after a while. It’s a constant loop of a good thing happening to Richard followed by bad thing happening to Richard.
