I would prefer to avoid having to ban every individual page on each instance that gains in popularity across lemmy.
Is the only option to host one myself?
There is an app called conect that has instance blocking, also i think you can use add block to some words like lemmy.world to hide them from you
I have to agree. I haven’t had any good political interactions with anyone from lemmy.world
The reddit lib energy there is off the charts.
Lemmy.world
I’ve just taken a look at the state of the discourse over there and jesus christ
It’s like distilled
Lemmy.world
I was thinking I’d just take a quick peek, but damn the are off the charts!
This one is pretty amazing levels of :
Well first of the Azov brigade was taken apart, subsumed by the military, and had it’s neo Nazi core group removed. If you want to mention them you need to remember Ukraine 2023 is not Ukraine 2018. Second, the political wing is a minority in the government much like the Freedom Caucus in the US, the Golden Dawn in Greece, and the current majority in Italy. Having dumb people in your country does not make you fascist. It’s an entire ideology that does not co-exist with democracy.

This one is just complete lib ouroboros :
Westerners don’t get it. They didn’t see citizens in Crimea and Donbas walking around in their “fuck me, Putin” shorts and their “imperialism now” borscht stained t-shirts.
Most Geopolitically Aware Lib.
As a reminder, the nazi party never held a majority. They seized power as a minority party.
It unfortunately became the de facto lifeboat for Redditors during the API changes and when third party apps shut down. This is because it’s run by admins who administer a similarly large Mastodon instance, and thus, lemmy.world was able to handle the influx of users as lemmy.ml and others struggled.
Also, people flocked there because it wasn’t one of the “tankie” instances.
So yeah it’s basically concentrated, Reddit liberalism. The politics comm specifically is cursed.
As others have said, you can block instances on some apps. Otherwise, just block some of their communities. The feature to block instances is being worked on, but the Lemmy devs are spread thin.
We don’t need big instances imo.
There’s is already flooded with so much pro-USA-no-matter-what content. The discussions are equally as one sided…
I definitely agree. The approach lemmy world took of catering to the reddit crowd and trying to become the biggest instance hosting all communities in one place was always doomed to create that sort of atmosphere. And open sign ups are a part of that issue. I spent a pretty long time on lemmy before making an account and settling on dbzer0 because it’s an anarchist instance. And people should’ve been encouraged to find an instance that’s right for them.
I’ve already blocked world since I’m using connect and my browsing experience is so much better again. The amount of reddit libs on .world is completely insufferable.
