I would prefer to avoid having to ban every individual page on each instance that gains in popularity across lemmy.
Is the only option to host one myself?
Until instance-blocking is implemented on a per-user basis, the easiest option is to move to an instance that already defederated from Lemmy.world. A quick way to check is defed.xyz/check/lemmy.world

I would definitely prefer personal instance blocking. Sync doesn’t have anything like that right?
There is an app called conect that has instance blocking, also i think you can use add block to some words like lemmy.world to hide them from you

depends how you use lemmy. If you use an app, some phone apps support it already, switch to one of those. If you use a browser, you could use a userscript (I’ve written some as a laugh that seem to work alright)
