Even if nuclear war and complete climate catastrophe happens on Earth it’d still be more habitable than fucking Mars
Why Mars? There’s another planet in our solar system that’s even closer and has a breathable atmosphere, a protective magnetosphere and temperatures mostly tolerable by humans. We could try to fix that place that place up first, seems like it’d be a less of a hassle

Mars/Moon/Culture Orbitals are fun and cool, but they’re not solutions, they’re hobbies. It’s shit we do for fun while building Socialism, which will have the eventual nice side effect, several centuries down the line, of reducing our resource footprint on this planet to near zero.
It’s not going to bail us out of our problems, Space Solar power and mirrors might help and having some infrastructure, even some asteroid mining, is a good idea, but it’s no substitute for the hard work we need to do here.
I’d love for those people to actually fuck off to Mars. Living there is just incredibly hard, harder than living on Earth even in worst worst worst-case climate change and pollution scenarios.
How about we trick millionaires into thinking Mars is better than Earth? A reverse Psychology Elysium?
