Well, in most cases, it’s a thing we made up, but there is some portion of it that is just a measure of how much stuff we all make, and in this case, the economy is shit because people can’t work and the people who are being forced to work are getting sick and not being able to work. Under any kind of economic approach, this virus would significantly reduce the amount of shit we’re making, but only capitalism turns the “we’re making less shit” problem into a “and now everyone is fucking homeless and sick”

I agree on /r/Libertarian. The mods are mostly chuds, but there are a lot of debate nerds on there who have just legitimately never heard leftist ideas explained and think the left’s entire philosophy is just taking guns or SJW’s, rather than workers issues.

I’ve just stopped talking about private property at all except when someone specifically uses it. I usually just say “private ownership of the shit we need to make shit”. I guess it probably depends who you’re talking about.

Yea… honestly, in most people’s day-to-day lives, assuming they aren’t actively out protesting or organizing in leftist spaces, private corporations are way more Orwellian than the government. Both of the main mobile OS’s are designed to funnel shit loads of info about you to private entities with no accountability, and there is virtually 0 competition to those two.

Plus Libertarians have already somewhat revolted against the neoliberal world order (even if they basically agree with all of the basic principles), so they’re more open to structural critiques than liberals are.

It’s not really different. It’s just more specialized. There are lots of projects that require a shit load of complexity and require large groups of people to work together to make them happen. It’s not really unique in that sense.

I’m vegan, btw

But honestly, if you’re bugged by it, the best thing you can do is just try the veganism thing for a week or two and see how it works for you. If you need help with getting started, I’m lazy as fuck and I do it pretty easily. Plus, not having to worry about your protein going bad in the fridge was big for me because I always forgot about shit, but tofu, tempeh, seitan, etc last for months.

Where ever you wind up on the issue, eating less meat is always a good place to start. When I started changing over, I cut out all cow products first, because I was mostly focused on climate change and cattle is a huge detriment, but most people take a different route than that. I noticed once I started moving, it was always really easy to take the next step.

For the most part, if you’re eating meat in 2020, you’re eating more vegetables indirectly through the animals you’re eating, so whatever slave labor is used to grow the vegetables that the animals eat is still more than whatever slave labor is used to grow the vegetables a vegan eats.

Price wise it’s not bad, but taste wise, it’s not there yet.
