It isn’t really about party when you boil it down. It is about who they are loyal to. The sad truth is that money corrupts, and rich people will always have more money than poor people, and there is no such thing as an uncorruptable government. We should count our true representatives based on who really puts us first, not based on party. And with that count, I think we have between 50-100 of them. Not enough to pass legislation.

The concept of the EU is a selfish one, as is that of all states. That is to benefit the people inside without regard for the outside, except to the degree that they mutually benefit each other. But within the EU, the concept is good. The big idea is to make people, corporations, and capital play by the same rules. If there is free trade or movement of capital, then there is free movement of people. And having social democracies with good social safety nets helps keep inequality low and standard of living high. Then they slowly expand the EU to bring the prosperity they create to more and more of the world.

Noble idea.

But seriously, do you know any good places to get frozen yogurt with organic fruit?

I like how you’re apologizing to other readers, not to me.

How’s that, so we would have had Hillary instead? Folks, Obama wasn’t bad. His flaw was his congress. He pushed them as far as he could to get something passed. He didn’t have the numbers, and he trusted the wrong people, when it comes to picking a cabinet.

True to a degree. Both sides lied about the USSR being socialist. The soviets, because it was popular amongst their people; and the Americans because it was not popular. (Credit to chomsky.)

For one, it’s hyper normalization. Just like in Adam Curtis’ film, as the soviet union was collapsing economically, everybody knew it. But, nobody knew what to do about it. So if the leader said “go about business as usual”, then that’s what a lot of people did. We have no alternative that makes sense to enough people for it to become a thing.

And second, airports should stop the TSA checkpoints now. What’s the point? To stop another 9/11? That’s just three days worth of covid deaths. Put that department to better use. How about taking people’s temperatures when they enter the airport instead. Airplanes are being flown with no empty seats. The numbers are so high because people are catching it everywhere. They’re getting it on planes, in schools, in restaurants, at work. Our organized efforts to stop this are pathetic to non-existent.
