I have a similar albeit slightly different take: halfhearted lockdowns and restrictions only put undue stress on the vast majority of workers given the state of our unemployment and government assistance. This is only made worse through means testing assistance and fumbling the welfare back in the spring (I got called back to work for a week and missed out on $500 because I was at work. In a pandemic). This stress turns into anger and reaction which plays right into the hands of the arch capitalists who would gladly see millions dead as long as they’re replaceable. We either do it the right way, or we don’t do it at all. The problem is the right way would terrify most Americans into thinking the end of days had begun when in reality it would just be a copy of how China handled it: hard quarantine, little to no internal travel, no international travel, full assistance provided by the government along with contact tracing and mandatory shelter-in-place while using the police and military to deliver food and medicine and essentially fulfill vital industrial roles for about two months. The glaring issue being that Americans wouldn’t go for it, politicians wouldn’t go for it, capitalists wouldn’t accept it and the military and police would, at the very least, bitch and moan the whole time while getting even bigger hero complexes. As for me and my house, we’re just doing what we can to stay safe and healthy while seeing select few friends and family who we know have also taken their health seriously. It didn’t have to be this way, but hey, it’s america so what do you expect?
I get the visceral reaction to the Japanese atrocities and wanting some kind of punishment, but the bombs and the firebombing campaign weren’t it man. Some factory worker or some housewife in Hiroshima didn’t deserve it any more than their counterpart in Nanking. We should’ve let the USSR invade in the north while we blockaded the south and then hosed the entire imperial government along with the fucking emperor. We didn’t do enough to kill fascism in Japan, we just waged a genocidal campaign against the people because Curtis LeMay was a psycho.
That article was written by a Chinese dad and you can’t convince me otherwise.
So far Cyberpunk 2077 has functioned on my PS4. The textures are dull, but the rest looks like a PS4 game at the end of the consoles life. I’ve noticed few glitches save for the kind you expect in any open world game (some NPC Buddhist monk vanished into thin air). The gun play is…standard. The voice acting is…okay. The world and world building feels lackluster only in that it doesn’t have the same esoteric oddity of old cyberpunk fiction, but that might have to do with living in a cyberpunk reality just with less cassette tapes and analog computers. It’s a next gen game that can (kind of) run on current Gen consoles. I’m happy I can play it with its problems because I won’t be shelling out several hundred for a new console for a new game. At the least I wish that games would let you turn down things like on PC to get a smoother experience. I played Crysis on a home desktop on first release and it looked janky, but it still played once I turned everything down. Looks like consoles need to join the “it’s not great, but it’s edible” club.
I’ll lend some old man advice, because I feel like an old man seeing these questions from high school kids (also, good for you for not being a lib like I was at your age):
“Hi this is sergeant asshole with the US Army is this TheBigCat?”
(Tired, sleeping in, cocky from summertime sex) “Uh huh.”
“Have you considered enlisting?»
“I wouldn’t die for this country or any of the slobs that live in it.”
“…Fair enough”
Never got another call.
The most historic year in history?! COVID is bad but it’s not exactly this epoch defining moment. It’s an historical year sure, but the most historic year in recorded history? Fuck off Black Mirror you bunch of pseudo-intellectual ninnies. 2020 was a bad year for a lot of people, but to think it was the worst time for mankind reeks of historical illiteracy and narcissism.
My man has never had sex with a woman much less done a good job of it. If my wife has more than one or two it’s typically time to tap out. Like, love muscles get tired lol and fast. 13 orgasms though?! At least make your lie believable!
