They literally can’t see the truth. They’ve made themselves objects in service to systems, defined their entire self and conscience in terms of these systems and making the place they’ve carved out in them “okay”. If you show them the truth in brutal undeniable ways, like the capital police, they, best case, just kill themselves. They don’t know how to turn, how to do the right thing.

Maybe there’s a way to teach them? I don’t fucking know. The timings would be a bitch, getting them some serious theory as a matter of life and death in between when they get the horrible awakenings and when they Switch to an all lead diet.
