I know plenty of people who are solid leftists now that started out buying into the whole russia gate nonsense and just through the process of encountering leftists ideas and continuously watching libs fall flat on their face managed to radicalize. The guy’s already posting about worker’s rights and is on the cusp of understanding that the libs they were scared for on Jan 6th are in on the whole thing too. Call me an optimist but I think a lot of these radlibs will radicalize as they see the norms and institutions they respect fail again and again to actually serve them. Which is to say the dialectic of materialism will negate out of them their liberal brainworms :brainworms:

Jan 6th was the closest thing we’ve had in this country to a real in-your-face Fascist moment since the LAPD was caught on camera bludgeoning Rodney King. I don’t think its fair to say liberals being shocked awake by the event makes them “baby brained”. Just the contrary. Frustration at Team D’s refusal to take Jan 6th seriously - by failing on shit like instituting DC statehood, defending voter rights in red states, actually prosecuting media and political figures who fanned the flames, and leveraging the powers of the state to push back - is absolutely radicalizing and eye-opening.

Whether you believe in the Uyghur media-babble or not, there’s virtually nothing anyone in the US government can really do about it except complain.
There are a host of policies Joe Biden could pursue right away, and Congress could have shoe-horned into must pass legislation, and state parties could be advancing in anticipation of mid-terms, that expand the capacity of liberals to organize, participate, and set future policies through electoral channels.
But if you have to bring up the Uyghurs, its worth noting that this is another thing Biden’s basically failed on. Even if you say you care, he’s not doing anything to stop this alleged genocide. No more than he’s cooking up a cure for Havana Syndrome or building a missile dome to stop Crazy North Koreans from nuking us all.
Whatever you believe about world affairs, the Dem response has been to sit on their hands and complain about the Parliamentarian. They’re clearly incapable of governing. And that alone is radicalizing.
As someone who was genuinely invested in the Mueller investigation years ago, I’m going to disagree with you. When that shit fell through, I looked around for answers until I stumbled onto the original Chapo sub.

I don’t even know anymore. Its nice to think that when we functionally purged the Klan (for, like, the third or fourth time) from government institutions in the 70s and 80s, material conditions improved for the country. But I don’t see it in the numbers. Did the prison population go down? Did the country get any less hostile towards migrants? Did we engage in fewer wars? Did social services meaningfully improve? Did wages increase? Did life expectancy and infant mortality improve?
It seems like we didn’t bring colored folk up when we abolished the Klan. We just allowed more white folk to sink down, while a few token minorities were positioned as a new class of overseer.
As a Houstonian, I still see police wrestling with homeless black men on the street. I still drive through the slums and shop at stores full of low-wage minority workers. I still know where all the big prisons are. I’ve been down to Ben Taub Hospital, I’ve passed through the HISD school districts and talked to the teachers. I’ve volunteered at the Houston Food Bank and I’ve door knocked through some rough parts of town on behalf of a certain skateboarding would-be Senator.
I can’t tell you how things were in the 1960s, but I can tell you how they were in the 90s, the 00s, and the 10s. This doesn’t feel like a city that’s getting better, even if a few people clamber up through the cracks and make it into the upper-middle class.

Dems had a congressional majority in 2017 and did more with it under Trump than they’ve done under Biden. I’m still a little surprised they haven’t tried to Grand Bargain away Social Security and Medicare like Obama tried to do, but I guess even the corporate Dems are totally out of gas at this point. Or maybe they’re just saving that for 2023, so they can Own The Libs one more time.
I thought Trump Derangement Syndrome was just another one of those chud insults, until I turned on Maddow one night. TDS might be understating it. MSNBC’s obsession with Trump and Russia continues to this day, while 2 Dems torpedo every meaningful piece of legislation.
