there is the issue of liability in case the ac falls on someone’s head due to improper installation and also the issue of potential damage to the window. i mean its mostly bullshit tbh and they could just take some responsibility and have one of the maintenance staff install it instead of asking us to do it but obviously they wont do that. and no, they don’t cover the electricity bill, that would be sweet though
also PS, this conversation made me reread the lease renewal and apparently they removed the language about not being able to put in an AC so that’s progress and I guess I can get an AC unit. we did have some people die in the neighborhood from the heat, so i guess they weighted the liability costs associated with that too…
if you live in the states you will get an email from your ISP that you violated DMCA sometimes. i got like 5 of these already not sure they actually matter. that said, i figure if I get enough of these DMCA notices they will either cut off the net or report me to whichever agency is in charge of enforcing that so i try to minimize it as much as possible via a vpn. its also a good idea to cut off your ipv6 if you are doing that
rebel diaz is pretty good, not sure if actually a party member or anything like that but has songs praizing chavez and the right to unionize and campesinos. there was a good song of his called contradictions that i listen to in the car sometimes… bambu was already mentioned but yeah also bambu’s pretty dope and has songs on all sort of topics including working class songs and some maoist sounding stuff. public enemy had some cool songs but they are not communist per se
he also owns his own record label and profits off the labor of other artists and has people working under him. that and using homophobic punches during battle raps was pretty common in the 90s and 00s and a lot that stuff goes hand in hand with getting clout in the rap industry, which has a lot of reactionary aspects to it, which imo doesn’t discount the critiques he’s made in his songs over the years but the dude is a bit of a walking contradiction as a result. i still listen to some of his shit selectively
true true. i enjoyed their music growing up. i also loved reading malcom x’s autobiography but at the same time im aware a lot of that is idealism and not grounded in dialectical materialism and that’s ultimately what leads people to incorrect analyses and down paths like saying a bunch of dumb antisemitic shit.
dunno dude, it looked pretty based when they were ghost riding the whip w/ a cop car hahah
but also unlike recent riots in the states burning cop cars is also happening alongside an organized mass strike that labor is taking very active part in and they have actual demands that they want met so its not just cathartic shit to do when pissed off, its an actual material threat to the functioning of capital in that region so i hope they get their demands met but also they have a better chance of having that actually happen vs just riots. hopefully it doesn’t get coopted by a bunch of libs though
